LivePerson provides a Selective Credit Card Pattern Encryption (PCI cipher) feature that detects and encrypts credit card numbers that the visitors provide during chats or in tickets.
The purpose of this feature is to better protect customers’ data and to operate according to the instructions of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS).
- For Chats: During the real-time chat session, the 14-16 digit pattern is visible to both the agent and the visitor. However, when the chat session ends, the credit card number is saved in the LivePerson database in an encrypted form.
- For tickets: When a ticket with a credit card number is received, the credit cared number is saved in the LivePerson database in an encrypted form.
In the database, the encrypted credit card's number will look as follows:
